Hi. I am a routine user of AKTA explorer 100 and would like to understand the use of the extra pump running at the back of AKTA system whose tubings are dipped in 20% ethanol. I understood that this for the maintanence of the pump A and B. But can you please explain the use in detail?

Hi Vaishali! Thank you for the question. It is the pump rinsing system, it is not a separate pump. It is needed to make sure e.g. salt is not precipitated on the dry side of the pump. The flow in the rinsing system is generated by the normal pump movements. The flow rate is much less on rinsing side compared to the normal flow path. Hope this answers you question.
